Driven by building momentum from the City and organizations such as Main Street Ripley, there is a unique strategic opportunity to enhance the qualities that make downtown Ripley so desirable.

HOW

The project selection followed an asset-based Placemaking approach, focusing on enhancing existing community strengths such as cultural identity, social networks, natural resources, and infrastructure. Projects were selected based on visibility, necessity, and connectivity to address existing challenges and strengthen Ripley's downtown. Projects were also organized by priority, cost, and implementation timeline, supporting a phased approach that aligns with annual budgets. This strategy balances short-term improvements with long-term investments to create immediate impact while supporting sustainable growth.

WHAT

The Ripley Placemaking Plan builds on the community’s vision through targeted improvements along the Court and Main Street corridors. The proposed initiatives focus on public art, wayfinding, signage, and streetscape enhancements, creating a coordinated strategy for downtown revitalization. While each project provides individual benefits, their combined implementation will strengthen the vibrancy, identity, and connectivity of downtown Ripley. Public art and placemaking improvements are also intended to inspire private investment, encouraging storefront enhancements that complement public upgrades and create a cohesive, attractive, and thriving downtown.
